A trial of seven.
At Dunk's hearing, Aerion demands a trial of seven instead of individual combat. Dunk must find six other knights to fight with him or be declared guilty. On the morning of the combat, Dunk has only five and canvasses the rest of the knights for one more. When all seems lost, Prince Baelor rides in to take Dunk's side.

The accusers were thrown into confusion
In the combat trial of seven, Dunk defeats Aerion, forcing him to withdraw his accusation. After the battle, Baelor removes his helmet to reveal a shattered skull and dies. At the funeral, his son, Valaar, bids Dunk to leave. Later, Maekar asks Dunk to keep Egg as his squire and also offers him a place in his household.

Many good men fell that day, on both sides.
Eustace Osgrey narrates the tale of the Battle of Redgrass Field to Dunk and Egg. There, Daemon Blackfyre was winning, until he stopped to ensure his fallen foe, Dwayne Corbray, was not trampled.
