After Elaine goes to the beach with friends and takes their baby along, Larry takes the infant and goes home to his mother. After a few weeks of socializing with her friends, Elaine still feels emotionally empty. Larry and the baby pay her a visit. Elaine apologizes and agrees to be “a full-time wife!”

She falls in love with a costumed man named Andre, but sees him kissing another woman and returns home, disillusioned. She dates Tom on the rebound. Andre reappears at a costume ball and Brenda says she doesn’t love him: Tom is the man for her. “Andre” unmasks: it’s Tom.

“Even as a child,” Carol “had no regard for truth and honesty,” and as a department store employee she continues to take credit for work others do. She falls in love with her new boss Bruce, even though he warns her that he can't stand liars. Carol mistakenly wins a store slogan contest, but doesn’t admit the error. Bruce breaks up with her as a result, and Carol realizes it must have been his entry that she took credit for. She confesses everything and Bruce forgives her.
