Synopsis:
As the war begins, Achilles slays Cycnus forcing the Trojans to retreat behind their wall. Nine years later the war wages on and the parties try to settle it by single combat between Menelaus and Paris. Paris, however flees before he can be slain and the truce is broken. Agamemnon is told to give up Chryseis to stop the plague and claims Achilles' slave Briseis in her stead. In retaliation Achilles refuses to fight.
