Synopsis:
Charley sights an elk, wants to serve it to the boys. Pete promises they'll help him get dinner if he tells the story of Tom Young and the elk. Tom's bullet only stunned the elk, and it charged him as he went to dress it. Ginger saved Tom's life by hassling the elk's legs. Tom made a snow pit. Overnight, rain turned snow to ice. Morning, he put a note on Ginger's collar and sent her home. She caught a covey of grouse, and they ate. Next morning, he sent Ginger again, using Baby Lou's lock of hair. Lottie arrived in a sleigh, with blankets and food. They all stayed in the snow pit overnight.
