Charley! Help Pete down! I think he's broken his leg!
With Brownie's help, Shorty built a cabin. They were stocked for Winter. But Brownie slept when Shorty went to collect from the trap line, and Shorty got himself pinned under one of his own traps, in the snow. He called for Brownie, who wakened and came, but Shorty's leg was broken. He loaded grub on the home-made sled, harnessed to Brownie, who pulled toward the settlement, but halfway there Brownie headed to the logging camp, into the cook shack. The boss, now cooking, shoved a pie in Brownie's mouth, and hired Shorty back on at double pay. There'd been no good eating since Shorty left.
