John Clay
While in Tibet John Clay steals a priceless ruby that a monk tells him contains a sinner's soul. While stealing it he also removes the monk's hand. With his dying breath the monk says that he will come for John when his (the monk's) hand turns to ashes. John escapes and sells the ruby and becomes rich. Now he has to try to keep the monk's hand from turning to ashes.

One day a burglar steals his box and asks the little man to tell him the secret of how to be as small as he is so that he can rob banks. Unfortunately, the little man is nice enough to show him how.
