Santa has slept for six months. Merry wakes him so he can check on bookkeeping, the workshop startup, and the impending annual baseball game with the penguins. Dippy the Deer accidentally interferes with the game and is discovered to be fast enough to lead Santa's sleigh team. Meanwhile, Gnippy accidentally rockets himself hundreds of miles down to Bobby's house where he helps get Bobby on the straight and narrow. Santa shows up at Christmas and retrieves him.

Notes:
• This story centered (somewhat) on Dippy the Deer appears just one season after Montgomery Ward stores had come up with a new lead reindeer for Santa--Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. However Dippy does not have any gimmick or much charisma.
• Santa's helpers are gnomes, not elves, and are rather incompetent.
• The flying team is just four reindeer--not eight--with Dippy making five.
• Beelzebub is usually reserved for references to devils, but here Beelzebub is a good gnome.
• There are no real-life penguins at the North Pole.
• Creator initials are on the last page, last frame.
