US marines are on the march to the Changjin Reservoir when they are attacked by entrenched enemy soldiers. Due to some precise planning, the sergeant finds a way to sneak upon the enemy and defeat them. However, the marines are then ordered to retreat, something grunt Salisbury doesn't understand from his position on the battlefield. He soon learns that their Marine unit was surrounded by 100,000 Chinese soldiers, facing certain annihilation.

December 3, 1950! Where were you last year?
1st Marine Division and 7th Army Division soldiers are moving into the fortress of Hagaru-Ri, where there were five Chinese soldiers for every U.N. soldier, and whose orders were to kill as many U.N. troops as possible. The U.S. Air Force did its best to eliminate enemy soldiers, thus allowing friendly forces to link up.

U.N. forces (many die); North Korean soldiers (villains, some die); Chinese scouts (villains)
December 20, 1950! The grand evacuation was winding up!
U.N. forces, made up of many nationalities, had retreated back into the only protective area they held in all of North Korea: Hungham, the enemy's big port on the Sea of Japan. By the 24th of December, all hell broke loose as an artillery bombardment in the dock area, and it continued well into Christmas Day, bringing only death and destruction, certainly not any peace.
