The story is presented as a framing sequence with Space Cabbie, Space Ranger and Ultra. Each tells a different version of Jack and Mikaal rescuing Starfire from a space pirate. The artwork on the Ranger's and Ultra's versions is different from the rest of the issue.
The Starfire in each version is different as is the old space hero team used as a cameo rescuer.
The Princess Koriand'r verision is from the 1980s Teen Titans series.
The Sornaii Champion version is from the comic Starfire (DC, 1976 series) and took place on an alien world called Pytharia.
The Leonid Kovar version first appeared in the 1960s version of the Teen Titans. In the 1980s version of the Teen Titans he changed his name to Red Star.
