Comico declared bankruptcy in 1986, but did not cease operations until 1990. The company was sold to Andrew Rev, who restarted the company in 1992. During the 90s there were a number of failed attempts to reboot the company with Bill Willingham's Elementals. Since July 2009, the co-founders of Comico, Gerry Giovincio and Bill Cucinotta have been producing webcomics via CO2 Comics online with many original Comico creators (though they do not hold the copyrights to the material any longer).
