Archie's parents are planning to spend less because of the recession, but Archie argues that the only way to get out of a recession is for people to spend more, not less. Mr. Andrews sees through this as just a plea for a higher allowance. Later, when Archie explains his theory to Veronica, she says that the American way is to spend, spend, spend, whether there's a recession or not -- and let Daddy pay the bill.

This was the first issue of this title to feature "Archie's Gag Bag," which (under different character names) would be a regular feature in many comics and digests for the next few years. The feature simply consists of strips from the "Archie" newspaper comic, colored in. The feature was introduced shortly after Bob Montana died and was replaced on the daily strip by Dan DeCarlo, and may have been a way of finding a use for the old Montana strips now that the look of the strip had changed -- though the DeCarlo strips would eventually replace Montana's in "Gag Bag" as well.
