Early issues of M. L. J. Magazines' Blue Ribbon Comics and Top Notch Comics were produced by Chesler Publications with the owner Harry 'A' Chesler acting as editor. In 1938 Abner J. Sundell was employed as editor by The Blue Ribbon Group. The Blue Ribbon Group produced pulp magazines and Louis Silberkleit was publisher. Sundell was almost certainly editor at the beginnings of M. L. J. Magazines. Abner J. Sundell was recorded as editor and managing editor on the Statement of Ownership of October 1st 1940. In April 1941 Sundell left M. L. J. and Harry Shorten became editor. Harry Shorten is recorded as editor on the Statement of Ownership for October 1st, 1941. Editor, Harry Shorten and managing editor, John L. Goldwater formally recorded on the Statement of Ownership for October 1st, 1942. Editor, John L. Goldwater and managing editor, Harry Shorten recorded on the Statement of Ownership for October 1st, 1946 and remained unchanged until Shorten left in 1957. John L. Goldwater, managing editor, recorded on the Statement of Ownership for October 1st, 1957. Editor, John L. Goldwater and managing editor, Richard H. Goldwater recorded on the Statement of Ownership for October 1st, 1958 and remained unchanged through 1982.
