Synopsis: Seviram and his conspirators plot to strike against Lord Arux at a dance on the Eve of Candles. Seviram tries to convince Lady Lys’ manservant, Glieve, to betray her. He refuses to do so and is killed by Seviram. Next, Seviram goads Brosag into challenging Rudd to a duel. He does, but is forced to fight Rudd in human form and is killed. At the conclusion of the duel, Lucifer and Mazikeen arrive in Effrul.
