Synopsis: Mazikeen goes to Briadach the Seer to find a way to repair her face. She is captured by Mahu and put on trial for treason and collaboration. Mazikeen defeats Mahu in a trial by combat. At the end of the combat the Lilim learn about Lucifer’s new creation. Instead of agreeing to fix Mazikeen’s face, Briadach offers Mazikeen the position of war leader of the Lilim. She accepts.

She escapes and finds herself at Effrul, an entrance to Hell. When she enters Hell she is captured by Lady Lys, but is rescued by Duma and returned to her physical body.

Synopsis: In a parallel to the biblical creation, Lucifer creates a world to be inhabited by a man and a woman. He tells them he will withhold death as long as they worship no one. The man is tempted by a snake to ask Lucifer for knowledge about good and evil. After being given an understanding of good and evil from Lucifer, the man fails to follow Lucifer’s commandment and Lucifer returns him and the woman to dust. The snake reveals itself to be Amenadiel in disguise.

Synopsis: Seviram’s petition to Lord Arux to align Effrul with Lucifer is rejected. Lady Lys takes one of the damned, named Christopher Rudd, to be her lover. Lord Arux sends a messenger off with a message for Lucifer that everything will be in order when Lucifer arrives in Effrul for his duel with Amenadiel. The messenger is killed by a group of conspirators headed by Seviram, and a new message is sent to Lucifer.

Synopsis: Seviram and his conspirators plot to strike against Lord Arux at a dance on the Eve of Candles. Seviram tries to convince Lady Lys’ manservant, Glieve, to betray her. He refuses to do so and is killed by Seviram. Next, Seviram goads Brosag into challenging Rudd to a duel. He does, but is forced to fight Rudd in human form and is killed. At the conclusion of the duel, Lucifer and Mazikeen arrive in Effrul.

Synopsis: Lord Arux realizes that someone intercepted his letter for Lucifer in order to have Lucifer present in Effrul on the Eve of Candles. Rudd tricks Lady Lys into ingesting the pure suffering of the damned, filling her with regret and guilt. Seviram and his conspirators attempt to bring down Lord Arux and replace him with Lucifer, but they fail because Rudd had informed Lord Arux of Grieve’s dying words. Lucifer gives Seviram a soul before killing him, so he can spend eternity as one of the damned.

Synopsis: Lucifer receives a warning from Pharamond about a threat on his life. Lucifer rejects the Lilim’s offer to be his army, causing Mazikeen to leave him. Michael entreats Lucifer to abandon his newly formed creation. Lucifer refuses to do so, and creates doorways from every other realm to his own for those who wish to enter it. During all of this, two teenagers who were drawn to the gateway have been lured into a side building where they become trapped like roaches in a Roach Motel.
