Story by John de Lancie, the actor who plays Q on the television series.
In this story, which was published between Seasons 3 and 4 of the television series, Jean-Luc's are identified as Claude and Christine, and Jean-Luc has a younger brother Claude who died in an accident as a boy. However, in the second episode of Season 4 titled "Family", Picard's parents are established as Maurice and Yvette, and Picard has an older brother Robert, with no younger brother mentioned. Also in that episode, it is established that the Picard family owns and operates a vineyard, while no reference to the vineyard is made in this story.
According to the Stardate Guide in this issue, this story takes place during the second half of Season 3 of the television series, shortly after Q's appearance in the episode "Deja Q".
