Notable story arcs include: the government dumps radioactive waste on Dogpatch, so that residents are blinded by atomic fog; a Chippendale chair carries out a series of murders, but Fearless Fosdick catches it, and the Chair gets the chair; Granny Scragg conjures Daisy Mae to forget Li'l Abner; radiation turns turnip termites even more monstrous; J. Roaringham Fatback pursues the last Hammus Alabammus (Salomey); Shmoos provide everything people need, and so destroy the world's economy which is based on scarcity and withholding; D.D. Teasdale exterminates the Shmoos, but two survive and reproduce; Marryin' Sam sells propellers to bachelors for Sadie Hawkins Day.
