This episode fits in the Season 3 TV continuity, sometime after the return of Angel, but it really doesn't make much sense in the continuity of the series. Traditionally the Halloween episodes of the TV continuity were aired around Halloween. The nearest episode would be "Beauty and the Beasts" which features the return of Angel but Buffy does not yet know that he has returned. The story in the comic has Buffy indicating that she does indeed know that Angel has returned.
