Ms. Marvel faces her old foe, Cru, whom she believed to be dead. Machine Man and Sum try to drive Cru off but things take a strange turn when Cru links up with Ms. Marvel and transports her to Monster Isle. It turns out that Cru is an alien woman who left part of herself in Carol's bloodstram during their last conflict. This explains why Carol keeps turning blue and healing in times of stress. As Cru tries to extract the part of herself she left in Carol, the Brood arrive on the scene.
