First appearance of Mad Doctor Doom and Chester, who would become the most popular Little Archie villains. This issue appeared on newsstands at around the same time as the first appearance of Dr. Doom in "Fantastic Four"; the similar names appear to be a coincidence. (See http://www.oddballcomics.com/article.php?story=archive2004-02-20 for more information on the timeline of the two characters' first appearances.)

The decision to make Mad Doctor Doom green came from the colorist, Victor Gorelick. Bolling recalled (http://www.comic-con.org/common/03upd2005_little_archie_50th.shtml) that he asked Gorelick "what did you color him green for?" but grew to like the idea.
