First Line: Oh, Poppa Oswald!
Synopsis: After Floyd and Lloyd ask for and receive an advance on their allowance for ice-cream sodas, and ask for another advance in order to see a movie, Oswald resolves to teach the boys how to "enjoy life without spending a lot of money". He takes them on a drive in the country, for a peaceful picnic and fishing day, which ends up costing him far more than ice-cream sodas and a movie.

Oswald's total cash-outlay for this inexpensive day in the country comes to $103.00 plus the undisclosed costs of a new horse harness and a full bucket of "wild berries" that were not-so-wild -- in 1949 dollars.

Within these strips are the floating heads of the characters.
