Hulk [Bruce Banner]; Doc Samson; Thunderbolt Ross; Betty Ross; Glenn Talbot; Doctor Doom (villain); Hulk Robot (villain); CAMEO FLASHBACK: Jim Wilson (cameo flashback)
As Bruce is being pursued by the police, he is picked up by Dr. Doom's limo and taken to the Latverian embassy. When Ross and his contingent of soldiers show up to ask Doom to relinquish his guest, he releases a Hulk robot instead. The army quickly destroys the robot, thinking they have done away with the real thing; Bruce bristles at the thought of having Doom as his savior so the villain gasses him and takes him back to Latveria. Doom uses his "subliminal inducer" on Banner, hoping to make both he and his monstrous alter-ego his willing servants.

Stan's Soapbox celebrates the 100th issue of Spider-Man. The Bullpen is working on an art exhibit for Emerson College in Boston. Barry Smith has drawn an illustration for "The Second Illustrated Beatles Lyrics." Stan's wife Joanie made a visit to England, and, due to the U. S. mail strike that was then in effect, brought back art from Barry Smith and material from the band Icarus, which is completing a Marvel album. Sal Amendola is the newest addition to the production staff. Gerry Conway went to the west coast to confer with Harlan Ellison on a "secret project." John Romita has just bought a Mercedes. Scholastic's NewsTime edition had an article on the latest Spider-Man issues. Stan was interviewed on ABC-TV's Eyewitness News. There was also a mention of Marvel in the In the Know section of Look magazine and an article in the New York Times about Spider-Man. Spot illustration of Captain America on a motorcycle. At the bottom of the page is the large Marvel logo with 11 headshots.
