Green Hornet
Mishi Kato [Kato III] (next appearance in Green Hornet, 1991 series, #1, September 1991); John "J.J." Allen, Jr. (next appearance in Green Hornet, 1991 series, #23, July 1993); Kathy, a martial arts student; Chance Jones; Emery Jones; a five-person truck hijacking gang, including McFee, Bruno, and leader/mastermind Morris Parker; a hospital doctor and nurse; Paul Reid [Green Hornet IV]; Britt Reid II; Bar owner "Bud" and a bouncer; Maureen, Parker's moll; Three highway patrol troopers, including "Sarge"
A cargo hijacking operation hits a truck driven by Emery as a favor to a friend, hospitalizing him. As Paul and Mishi research the situation, Britt arrives with a special letter for her and advice for the pair. At his suggestion, the Hornet and Kato visit Bud, who has heard that the thieves, with a leader named Parker, hack into insurance company computers to find valuable shipments. Reid Communications arranges a heavily insured cargo of their own, and when the gang strikes, they find the Black Beauty and its usual occupants inside the truck, who make short work of the crooks, leaving them trussed up for the authorities. Back at Hornet HQ, Mishi announces that her letter requires her to leave for Zurich on business of her family's company.

1: How the presence of the car of the wanted criminal Green Hornet in a Reid Communications truck would be explained (or suppressed from the record) is not hinted at; a similar situation existed in the 1960s Hornet TV series' episode "Crime Wave," although that truck was not connected to Reid. 2: Kato III [Mishi] is dropped after this issue, and replaced with Kato II [Hayashi], on orders from the property's owners, The Green Hornet, Inc. 3: This story establishes the surname Jones for twin brothers Chance and Emery, contradicting the implication in #8's dialogue that the twins are Jon Allen's sons; these characters, except for J.J. Allen (Jr.), who will figure prominently in the later "Karate Wars" storyline (Green Hornet, 1991 series, #s 23-24), were dropped after this issue due to the (temporary) departure of Mishi.

Includes from this issue's sequence 1, page 17, panel 1, and page 10, panel 1, in black and white.

Strus' letter recommends a Green Hornet graphic novel, and Piron's reply announces a trade paperback "in September" (giving no further specifics) which, according to Ron Fortier, was intended to contain the stories from issues 1-12 of this run, but never went beyond Jeff Butler drawing an illustration for its cover; the entire feature has a dark green background.
