Talent agent Sheila receives a recording of Don's singing. She discovers he is a coal miner who sings on the weekends, and thinks her offer of a contract is a scam. Sheila and Don fall in love and she "admits" he's right about the contract. Sheila is prepared to give up her career and marry Don, but her partner Steve arrives. Steve says Sheila is being selfish: "that's not love! That's narrow, suspicious possession!" Sheila changes her mind and Don becomes a star.
