The event... The Grand National Magnificent Junior Woodchucks Wing-Ding and General Assembly for the Purpose of Bestowing Merit Badges on the Best...
In lieu of more merit badges, which would put them over the Woodchuck legal weight-carrying limit, Huey, Dewey, and Louie (plus Donald as their guardian) are given airplane tickets to camp abroad in the country of their choice. They choose Lower Bahvia for its good climate and terrain. But once there, they find the population living in fear of "The Thing", a monstrous winged reptile-like creature that feeds on the sheep of the local shepherds.

The story's opening line of dialogue from its original printing in Huey, Dewey and Louie Junior Woodchucks (Western, 1966 Series) #1 (August 1966) reads as follows:

"Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck... step forward to receive your merit badges for 1966!"

The line remains unchanged for this reprint that went on sale in November of 1972. The year "1966" was not removed or altered for this printing.
