They discover that people back then had stronger moral values and kept the air and water cleaner, and conclude that the people of the modern world can find the same kind of spirit if they "look up."

When a policeman runs him in for peddling without a license the girls all insist that he was not selling -- that these are only little mementos for all his girl friends. This gets him off until Veronica gets wind of all those girls. Then he begs to be jailed for his own protection.
