Synopsis:
Superman flashes back to a time when Clark was just out of high school and visiting Australia on a dig with Professor Lang of Stanhope University. Callie Llewellyn discovers a huge, living trilobite, which Clark secretly stops. Clark's actions have aroused Callie's suspicions about a super-boy, which Clark tries to discount. In the present in Belgrade Serbia, Superman is fighting Subjekt-17, who starts shouting in Serbian. Back in Kazakhstan, the Soviet base is being abandoned after Subjekt-17's attack, but Dr. Llewellyn discovers notes about him. A spacecraft had arrived but everyone on board was dead, except a pregnant, dying alien. The scientists were unable to save the mother, but did save the baby, only to experiment on him for decades. Superman temporarily buries Subjekt-17 a half-mile underground, which gives him enough time to rush back to Kazakhstan and free trapped soldiers. Clark's flight arrives, so he joins the passengers at the airport. But the terminal starts shaking, causing everyone to run for cover, and then Subjekt-17 (who has now learned how to fly) attacks, and, now speaking English, tells Superman he's going to punish all humans for what they did to him. Dr. Llewellyn reads further in the notes, and tells Superman that the Soviets controlled Subjekt-17 with sonic frequencies. Superman uses that to help in the fight, but then Subjekt-17 is teleported away by Arion, who confronts Superman.
