Roberta moves to a residence hall and makes friends with Annette, who introduces her to Jerry at church. Roberta and Jerry fall in love, but she doesn't think she's good enough for him. When Roberta is unjustly arrested for theft, Jerry intervenes and says he'll marry her to keep her out of prison.
