The story is in black & white except for the final page. As Crumb stated in the introduction to this volume, this story is based on a visit he made to his brother at a mental institution. A lot of the dialogue was either written by Charles or transcribed from conversations Crumb had with him. These two funny animal characters are from Charles's childhood comic book making days.
