Synopsis:
The famed macabre moviemaker Lawrence St. George has called Police Inspector Lava to his studio to screen a scene from his latest film, in which a mysterious spectral figure not present in the negatives has appeared. Meanwhile, Julia Adler, star of the film and murder suspect, surfaces after three days on a remote road asking for St. George. The director is then approached, amidst a throng of reporters that includes the intrepid Sunset Lane, by a strange man named Crulk holding a shoebox.
