Fred marries Mary on her 18th birthday; she discovers that, like her father, he's a nasty drunk. Fred dies, and Mary raises their child on her own. Mary moves home to help care for her mother, and gets a job but refuses to date any of her co-workers. She changes her mind when Tom asks her out. However, when she tells him she's a widowed mother, he says "I can't marry you now." Mary agrees to wed Mr. Hunt, the company president, an older man. Tom explains he had to get a promotion before he could support a family: he can afford to marry Mary now. Mr. Hunt releases Mary from her obligation.

After her father's death, spoiled Nola quits school and gets a job as a hotel stenographer. She dates many different men but falls in love with Dennis, who is "a lot older" than she is. When Nola introduces Dennis to her mother Helen, she is shocked to learn they had dated 20 years before. Nola is jealous of her mother's friendship with Dennis and with good reason: Helen and Dennis decide to get married. Nola moves out, but months later reconciles with them and realizes Dennis is "old." Nola finds a new boyfriend of her own age and everyone is happy.

Tentative art credits from JVJ index card attached to scanned version online. JVJ just writes "Davoren?" and it's unclear if he means Al, Earl or Walter (who could be three different people or maybe just one or two).
