Most of the story from issue #9 is retold here; some of it redrawn, some pages reprinted directly (15-26, 28 in this issue; from pages 6-17, 19 in the original).

The story was changed slightly; for instance in the original the final creature was turned into a "pile of slivers and splinters" by Wonder Woman (Flash says "destroyed"), while in the updated story it was "planed down to its bare essence", still clearly intact.

As the JLA and JSA teams reunite in the present alongside the Seven Soldiers on Earth-2, the Hand makes his final move to destroy Earth-2 itself. In order to stop the nebulous hand about to crush Earth-Two, one of the heroes must deliver the Nebula-Rod into the heart of the menace, much like how Wing had sacrificed his life vs. the Nebula Man in the early 50's,as earlier revealed. Red Tornado makes the sacrifice and the Hand is captured, both teams victorious.
