This advertisement explains the "Parent Approved" logo on a range of mid-1950s Australian comics: "Your child will read a comic book this week! Comic books are fun, and forbidden to buy, kiddies will borrow from some more fortunate children and overcome parental objections. …And a pledge! Here is a friendly assurance from the Editors of every comic book bearing the Parent Approved Stamp that they—parents themselves—recognise their responsibility to young readers."
