Story  on  Interior Page(s) from base issue
Subject Matter
superhero
Spider-Man [Peter Parker]; Deborah Whitman; Robbie Robertson; J. Jonah Jameson; Mesmero (villain); Gwen Stacy (cameo flashback)
Mesmero offers Spider-Man $400 a week if he will agree to make special appearances in his Broadway show. Unfortunately, the drama critic for the Globe hates Mesmero's performance and pans him in the newspaper. Mesmero hypnotizes the unkind reviewer and compels him to wrap himself in chains and jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Spider-Man intervenes, which Mesmero sees as tantamount to betrayal. When Spider-Man shows up for his curtain call, Mesmero tries to kill him in front of a captive audience.
