Uitgeverij begon als Europese tak van het Amerikaanse Gilberton, vooral bekend van Classics Illustrated. Al gauw werden meer series toegevoegd. In de loop der jaren wisselde de naam, maar het component "Classics" werd pas losgelaten toen het bedrijf begin jaren zeventig veranderde in Williams.

De meeste van de overgebleven titels van Williams werden overgenomen door Kontekst (uitgever van tijdschrift Weekend). Dit is echter een losstaand bedrijf en is dan ook apart vermeld.

Started as a European branch of the American publisher Gilberton, best known for Classics Illustrated. More series were soon added. The name changed over the years, but the "Classics" component was not abandoned until the company changed names to Williams in the early 1970s. Most of Williams' remaining titles were acquired by Kontekst (publisher of Weekend magazine). This is a separate company, however, and is therefore stated separately.   Does this data need corrections? Become an editor.
