Als onderdeel van Verenigde Nederlandse Uitgeverij (VNU Tijdschriften) gaf Oberon vooral stripbladen en strips uit. In 1990 werd het merendeel van het fonds overgenomen door Big Balloon in een management buyout.

English: Oberon was the result of the merger of Geïllustreerde Pers and NV De Spaarnestad. (Geïllustreerde Pers continued to publish comics independently of Oberon, these mainly being Disney albums.) Part of VNU Tijdschriften ("United Dutch Publishing Companies"), Oberon mainly published comics magazines and comics. In 1990, the majority of the company was purchased in a management buyout and renamed Big Balloon.   Does this data need corrections? Become an editor.
