Their pulp magazines included often-reprinted titles such as The Shadow, Doc Savage, Astounding Science Fiction and Unknown. They published comic books from 1940 to 1949, some of which were derived from their pulp titles. They were purchased by Conde Nast in 1959, which continued to use the Street and Smith imprint on its sports magazines.   Does this data need corrections? Become an editor.

Note: Per Anthony Tollin: "Shadow creator Walter Gibson almost certainly wrote all the lead stories for this comic. He suggested the book in the first place under the title Rangers. His idea was for a comic featuring stories of the Rangers through all of the wars they had participated in." (Anthony Tollin on 17 August 2004). In Shadow Comics (Street and Smith, 1940 series) v2#9 [21] (December 1942) had a house advertisement for Yank Ranger Comics, which was the original intended title for this comic. Since Fiction House's Ranger Comics (1942 series) had its first issue (#8) also dated December 1942, it is likely the name change to Devil Dogs Comics was due to Fiction House obtaining the Rangers trademark before Street and Smith could.
