Street and Smith was one of the leading publishers of a wide range of magazines, dime novels, and sports yearbooks. Their pulp magazines included often-reprinted titles such as The Shadow, Doc Savage, Astounding Science Fiction and Unknown. They published comic books from 1940 to 1949, some of which were derived from their pulp titles. They were purchased by Conde Nast in 1959, which continued to use the Street and Smith imprint on its sports magazines.
