The House of M limited series follows the events of The Avengers (Marvel, 1963 series) #500-502 and the breakdown of the Scarlet Witch which created the House of M alternate universe where Magneto and the mutants controlled Earth.
There was a giveaway House of M: Sketchbook that promoted the series and a number of comics that tied into the story.
