As the news of the Red Circle tragedy spreads, the children of the Mighty Crusaders demand answers. Dustin Simmons, M.L.J. agent and the Shield's former sidekick, shows the children to their rooms. Afterwards, Joe reveals to the children that their parents were the Mighty Crusaders. The children decide to leave, but an obstacle course makes them realize that they can work together and persuades them to stay.

This story is full of references to former MLJ/Red Circle publications. The covers to early MLJ issues can be seen in the Shield's shrine, and Top-Notch is a sticker on Wyatt's laptop. The M.L.J. stands for the Military Logistics and Jurisdiction Bureau and is a reference to MLJ Comics.

It is revealed that when the US Army began to back the Crusaders, other superheroes began to rotate through the group (see Mighty Crusaders #12). The traitor in the group (see Mighty Crusaders #13) created a rift, splitting apart group members and leading to the current lineup. It is also revealed that many of the 80s Red Circle villains were working for Brain Emperor.
