Sally Barnes dreams that she has been given the "Voice of the Lorelei" and her wishes comes true. Labeled a witch, she is tried and convicted, and is sentenced to death. Sally's attorney calls in the JSA and they question her (a prisoner named Slicer overhears), and she tells of a dream in which a dwarf gives her this "voice". Convinced, the JSA asks the judge for 24 hours to prove her innocence. The JSA discovers the entrance to Fairyland, as does Slicer, meets Rapunzel, battles an ogre, and then is turned to stone by The Lorelei, but a Wise Woman breaks the spell.

The JSA realizes that Sally has been given the "Voice of the Lorelei," and that they must capture the Lorelei herself and make her confess so that Sally is saved from electrocution. Wonder Woman and Dr. Mid-Nite save Hansel and Gretel, battle an ogre, and seek the Cap of Knowledge. Wonder Woman, Black Canary and Dr. Mid-Nite gain the Cap of Knowledge from the Magic Well in the City of Witches, learning the Lorelei and Slicer are in the Dark Castle, and have set a trap for the JSA with a magical doe and a bucket of water, if touched, will turn the JSA into toads!

Johnny secures the Wishing Ring and saves GL and Hawkman from a dragon, then restores the Good Fairy, who tells them to go to the Dark Castle where they will find their friends. They enter the castle, discover the magic bucket/doe trap Lorelei has set for them. GL uses his ring to avoid the trap and restore Cinderella and others to their former selves, then face the Lorelei and Slicer. Lorelei uses her magic wand to switch body parts of the three JSAers, but Wonder Woman snatches the wand and Lorelei touches the bucket and changes into a toad. Then she changes five JSAers into animals.

GL uses his Power Ring to restore all the JSA into their normal selves, then Wonder Woman recounts how the portal from Fairyland to the Earth was accomplished and how Sally had gotten the Voice of the Lorelei. The JSA returns to Earth in time to witness the evil of the Lorelei attack Gotham City while Lorelei obtains the Philosopher's Stone. Slicer turns on her, wanting it, and she turns him into a dog. The JSA captures Lorelei and her minions just as the Earth and Fairyland part for the next 1000 years, and the evil ones perish. Sally is then saved from electrocution.

The Crimson Claw Gang has been pulling off daring crimes that baffle the authorities, but when the JSA is contacted by a member of the JJSA wanting to provide information regarding that gang, he is injured. Investigation by GL and Black Canary reveal the existence of a junior version of the gang committing petty thefts. Meanwhile the Flash and Hawkman discover the junior gang is playing right into the hands of the adult gang, and interrupt a crime in progress, only to get captured and on the verge of electrocution.

In Riversend, Black Canary tells GL that a big problem exists with kid gangs that needs to be dealt with, so Green Lantern visits a social worker to learn about the causes of juvenile delinquency and why kids like them want to emulate criminal gangs. Meanwhile, Dr. Mid-Nite and Atom enlist the aid of the JJSA to help in the matter and they enlist Don Brent to infiltrate the gang. At the same time, Hawkman and the Flash bring Eddie Brent to justice for their near-murder. And the Junior Claws discover Don Brent is a mole, so they tie him to railroad tracks to try and scare him.

The Flash trails Eddie to the Crimson Claw's HQ, then uses Wonder Woman's mental radio to alert the rest of the JSA to its location while he attempts to keep the gang busy until they arrive. At the same time, the Junior Claws are damaging property to blame it on a rival gang, and an explosion draws authorities while the adult gang commits a crime. But the JSA is on hand to round them up. The JJSA and Julia save Don's life, then duke it out with the Junior Claws. But Wonder Woman steps in with the Magic Sphere to reveal the future of the juveniles, which encourages them to reform.

The famous Liberty Train mysteriously disappears and Black Canary calls a meeting of the JSA. But they have disappeared because they are the prisoners of the New Injustice Society. The Canary finds the Harlequin at JSA HQ and, before they know it, the Icicle freezes them both and takes them to the gang's HQ. Harlequin uses her special glasses to hypnotize the JSA back to their old selves, and when they return to their senses, they discover that the Injustice Society plans to steal four of America's greatest treasures. The JSA vows to stop them from doing so.

Hawkman attempts to stop the Wizard from taking Old Ironsides, but is stopped by a snapping noise, putting him under the villain's control. At Liberty Hall, the Fiddler steals the Freedom Bell, and stops Dr. Mid-Nite and Wonder Woman in the process. The Huntress manages to use circus elephants to load Plymouth Rock into a truck, but the Flash and Atom stop her getaway. However, she manages to put the pair back into their mind-eraser state. The Icicle uses a super ram-jet to haul away the Washington Monument and put GL back into a trance.

Harlequin and Black Canary discover the Freedom Train stashed in a tunnel, but are over-powered by the Wizard. They are taken to the crook's HQ, where Harlequin is unable to restore the JSA with her glasses, and all are lowered into a mine to die. The Injustice Society takes the ram-jet to Gotham Stadium and removes the stadium to an area where the treasures are stored so the crowd can vote on the best crime, the winner to be the group's leader. The JSA shakes off the mind-eraser and confronts the villains for final battle. Later, at JSA HQ, Black Canary is made a member of the JSA.

Professor Zodiac, charged with murder, tells the court the story of Galio, a 15th Century scholar who discovered the Four Wonders of Alchemy, took the Elixir of Youth to remain young, but saw it wear off in the 20th Century. So he hid the Four Wonders, then went to the JSA to tell them where he had hid the items, which he did before he keeled over dead. However, Zodiac was in another room and overheard the conversation, and rushed out to find the objects, leaving his personal gold cane behind. The JSA realize they must find the objects before Zodiac does.

Professor Zodiac uses a special invention to scan 100 newspapers at a time, and discovers his first clue in the Gotham Globe that an odd occurrence at the Gotham Terminal may mean the Philosopher's Stone may be there, so he disguises himself as The Alchemist and heads there. The Flash and Hawkman have the same idea and run into him at the terminal, but are captured. A millionaire discovers the Universal Solvent and is disintegrated, but the news alerts the Alchemist, Atom and Dr. Mid-Nite, who race to the man's home. A struggle ensues, but the Alchemist overcomes the duo.

The Alchemist discovers the Top of Perpetual Motion at a top-spinning contest, but must battle Wonder Woman and Black Canary until the villain claims the top and overcomes them. Zodiac's testimony at the trial is interrupted again by some youngsters claiming to be the JSA, who are ushered out of court, and Zodiac continues his story, telling of a professor who accidentally discovers the Elixir of Youth in a flower bed. GL attempts to capture the Alchemist, who throws his last alchemo-bomb at the Emerald Crusader, freezing the ray of his ring, and allowing the Alchemist to capture him.

The JSA members awake, tied to the Perpetual Motion Machine, and The Alchemist doffs his disguise and heads back to Gotham to surrender to the Police for the murder of Michaels and to demand a trial, knowing that the JSA will not be able to appear to testify against him. His testimony judges him guilty and he is sentenced to death. The JSA members drink the youth elixir, escape the perpetual motion machine and arrive at the courtroom in time for Zodiac to throw an alchemo bomb at them to restore them to adults. After a battle, Zodiac attempts to escape by plane, but crashes and dies.

Boston Globe reporter Benson sees a connection with amazing thefts of metal and begins an investigation. Elsewhere, the great Raymond tells the JSA that he went to an exhibit at Gotham Island to expose so-called men of gold as frauds, but discovered they WERE made of gold. The Gold Men followed him, knocked him out, put him in a crate and dumped him in the river. Having escaped, he takes the JSA to the exhibit, where they confront the Gold Men, and battle them unsuccessfully. The Gold Men then board the Caterpillar ride, which spins dizzily, and when it stops, the Gold Men are gone!

Having jumped on the Caterpillar ride, the JSA suddenly find themselves in a dimension of gold, meeting with a scientist, who informs them that the Men of Gold have stolen iron from Gotham City and brought it to Xenca to power giant robots, which will end 1000 years of peace, thanks to arrogant Aurikon. Hawkman, Dr. Mid-Nite and Atom witness a robot come back to life in a bay, they battle it and its occupants, but are captured. Black Canary and Wonder Women battle the Gold Men at Xenca's National Museum who have brought a robot back to life, but are soon overcome and taken away.

At Myrla's estate, GL and Flash battle another of the Golden Robots and defeats it, but are overcome by the steam from a lake of molten gold. Myrla is captured and taken to the museum where the JSA are on display in a glass case in suspended animation. But Aurikon also has Raymond as prisoner, in an inescapable trap, from which he eventually frees himself, then busts the glass case holding the JSA. The JSA then makes short work of the robots, rounds up Aurikon and the Gold Men, jails them, and then re-creates their travel on the Caterpillar ride back to Civic City.
