Frederic Remington (1861 - 1909) in simplest terms was a magazine cover-artist depicting scenes of the Old West. However, this publication explores the career and illustrations of a driven artist who was observing the post-Civil War American West disappearing around him in a single lifetime. Remington's work entered the public consciousness in a number of ways including magazine covers, book covers, and short stories.
