Spidey takes down another one of the Rose's operations and the mob boss calls in wealthy businessman and super powered assassin Thomas Fireheart a.k.a. The Puma to kill the web slinger. Exhausted, Peter crawls into bed for a good night's sleep but his alien costume seems to have other ideas. Robbie commends Peter on his nice photos (they were taken by the Black Cat) but Pete is so tired that he barely notices. Spidey is ambushed by the Puma and pulls his left arm out of its socket. With Spider-Man down and writing in pain, the Puma prepares to pounce.

Puma is about to eviscerate Spider-Man but the Black Cat swings in to the rescue. Spidey and the Cat make it back to his apartment. The Black Cat takes off but Mary Jane shows up to hang out. As the Puma strikes Peter pushes Mary Jane out the door. Spidey and Puma fight but the assassin breaks off the attack when he witnesses Spider-Man save civilians. The Kingpin discovers that the Rose has put out an unauthorized contract on Spidey's life. Fireheart returns home. Hobgoblin contacts Rose. Peter finds Mary Jane still at his apartment where she tells him that she already knows he is Spider-Man.

As Peter struggles with the fact that Mary Jane knows he is Spider-Man, she opens up for the first time and tells him her family's history full of heartbreak, abuse and abandonment. Mr. Fantastic tries to communicate telepathically with Spidey's alien costume but has no success. Hobgoblin demands a cut of crime operations all over the city to sweeten his new business deal with the Rose. He then sets his sights on Harry Osborn. Learning that the Hobgoblin is still alive, Peter dons his classic red and blue costume as Spidey prepares to face his old foe.
