GIs in "Canteen Squad" stumble through the Sahara Desert seeking water. The sarge can only complain about his long johns itching. They spot an oasis, but a Nazi flag flies over it, with six stars for the units they beat. The GIs rush but are driven back. The "flag" comes after them on an armored car. One GI hitches a ride and grabs the flag. The Nazis rush for the flag and are defeated. So the unit hangs the sarge's long johns as their own "battle flag".
