Sally; Stan Cummings; Denny Cummings
Sally loves her neighbour Stan, a widower with a young son, Denny. Stan says he also loves Sally, but she overhears him telling Denny that the boy’s mother was the “most perfect mother in the world.” Sally fears Stan could never love her that way, but he explains that he wants Denny to remember his mother fondly. In reality, she was “cold, vicious” and Stan didn’t love her. He loves Sally now.
