Mary Lou pretends to be a “helpless, wide-eyed, clinging vine” type to attract dates. She becomes engaged to Stan, but he is soon irritated by her feigned helplessness. Mary Lou thinks newcomer Wilma has stolen Stan’s affection, but Wilma says Stan merely got tired of Mary Lou’s act: “Men like women to be feminine, but they don’t like them to be dopes!” Mary Lou apologizes to Stan and they reconcile.
