Wow! That line outside is huge!
Special guests of Sleuth Con International, a convention devoted to detective mysteries and those who love them, the gang investigates claims that a vendor’s stock of rubber-masks that were used by villains in prior Scooby-Doo cases has been stolen by the Ghost of Edgar Allan Poe. Among the many mystery fans, cosplayers, and vendors at the con, they also meet Old Man Carruthers, a reformed Scooby-Doo villain who once posed as a swamp monster – and who now makes a living speaking on the convention circuit.

“Cupid Shaggy” (Shaggy in a toga, with a crown of roses, suction-cup arrows, and angel wings) was the “host” of all three stories in Scooby-Doo (DC, 1997 Series) #117 April 2007, providing intro and outro narrations for each tale. His appearance in this reprint, found in the middle of Scooby-Doo Where Are You? #92 with no context, seems a bit odd, yet is in keeping with the parodic nature of the story as a whole. The first line of this story (seen above), is spoken by “Cupid Shaggy”, and is a continuation of his last line of the previous story in the original issue. “Cupid Shaggy” is not named as such in the original or in this reprint. It is merely a descriptive name attached to the character for the purposes of this index.

Page one, panel two: A banner reads “2009 International Surf Open” – in a comic published in 2018, but in a story that is not explicitly identified as a reprint within its pages. Very small print in the indicia (at the very bottom of the final page) reveals that there are reprints in this issue, but nothing to label this specific story as one.
