Synopsis:
Benedict Arnold commands American forces courageously and successfully, but repeatedly alienates people and is passed over for promotion. His second wife, who is friendly with a British officer, encourages him to betray George Washington, and the fortress of West Point, to the British. The plot is exposed at the last minute. The Arnolds escape, but Major André is hanged as a spy.
