Sheila, clerk in the clipping “morgue” of a newspaper, wants to be a reporter. She repeatedly copies confidential government information entrusted to her boyfriend Carter and gives it to her editor, even though she knows it’s unethical. Carter is arrested and fired from his job as a result. Sheila gets a reporter’s job but quits when she learns Carter has fallen seriously ill due to his disgrace. She pays for his medical treatment. Carter recovers and marries his nurse Marian. The repentant Sheila is left alone.

Private tutor Madge agrees to help Bill pass the college entrance exams so he can study architecture. She thinks she can secure his love by putting him in debt to her. Bill is admitted to university. Madge sees him there with another young woman--Bill says Madge’s constant harping on how grateful he should be to her turned him off. However, after thinking it over, Bill decides he really feels love, not just gratitude, and is reconciled with Madge.

Secretary Sandra hopes to win a radio slogan contest that will give her money, a copywriter job, and the attention of handsome radio writer Don. She overhears the radio men choosing the winning slogan and learns it was sent anonymously. Sandra submits the same slogan and is awarded the prize. She’s out of her depth in the new job but coaxes Don into helping her until he finally balks. Sandra learns the real author of the slogan is Mrs. Kate Higgins, an elderly widow. Sandra gives Mrs. Higgins the prize money and quits. Don tracks her down, says her solo writing was fine, and they clinch.

Wealthy Vee is generous with her poor friend Sybil, but only because she wants to impress her other friends. Vee becomes jealous when Sybil dates handsome Mel, one of her father’s employees, whom Vee covets. Vee pretends Mel loves her and this drives Sybil away, but Mel criticizes Vee’s duplicity and leaves as well. Vee apologizes to Sybil and arranges to reunite her with Mel.
