Music student Louise is warned away from jazz musician Drummer by arranger Ted. Louise starts smoking marijuana with Drummer and his pals, and becomes the band’s new piano player. However, she collapses from over-use of drugs and Drummer abandons her. Ted takes her to his family’s farm so she can kick the habit and they fall in love. When Drummer returns to town, Louise goes to see him and realises that his music stinks and drugs are bad. She is reunited with Ted and they’ll make beautiful music together.

Ross Massey; Nick Fell; Peggy Turner; Mr. Carver
Lawyer Ross runs for mayor on a reform ticket. His fiancee Peggy quits her job and joins his campaign. Gangster Nick backs the other candidate and threatens Ross, so Peggy visits Nick and promises Ross won’t interfere with his “businesses” if he’s elected. Nick doesn’t believe her, and has a photo of them together published in the newspaper, to smear Ross's campaign. Ross decides to quit, but Peggy makes a speech and takes all of the blame. Ross and Peggy reconcile.

Joey and Sylvia run a small dry cleaning shop and hope to marry some day. When a Margant cleaners’ chain shop opens across the street, they decide to sell out. Joey gets a job as a truck dispatcher for Margant and Sylvia is hired in their personnel department. Laura, daughter of the owner, flirts with Joey and gives him a promotion. Laura later proposes marriage and Joey accepts because she’s rich, but changes his mind when Sylvia begs him to reconsider. Laura’s father says he knew Laura was wrong for trying to buy Joey’s love. Joey returns to Sylvia, his true love.
