Baby Wind takes Max and the Talking Balloon on a trip to the moon. On the way, they stop at a star and help a sky-fairy polish it. Then, they wake up the Man-in-the-Moon and have a conversation with him. Baby Wind then blows them back home and promises to take them to the moon again sometime.

Lotta receives news that she has inherited a diamond mine from her Uncle Herbert. Soon the whole town is speculating about how many millions she will have. Salesman pop up everywhere selling their wares, content to receive payment when Lotta receives her fortune. Excited by the turn of events, both Lotta and her parents go on a shopping spree. However, an attorney arrives and informs them that the mine which Lotta is inheriting has been tapped out and is now essentially worthless. The vendors quickly take back all the merchandise, leaving the deflated Plumps sitting in their now empty house.

While out walking in town, Richie meets Clunky, who is crying. Clunky relates that other kids think that he is too big and clumsy, so no one wants to play with him. Richie assures Clunky that he will play with him and invites him to the Rich estate. Once there, Clunky does prove to be quite accident-prone, breaking or destroying several expensive items around the house. He goes home, thinking that Richie will never want to play with him again. However, Richie soon invites him back, having specifically acquired a playhouse and a miniature car that are sturdy and indestructible.
